Thermal International (S) Pte Ltd has been involved exclusively in the healthcare field since 1975. Over the years the Company has worked closely with the Gleneagles Group in Singapore to build, equip and staff some of the most modern and efficient healthcare facilities particularly hospitals in the Asia Pacific Region.

The experience and expertise available to Thermal resulted in the Specialist Cardiac Hospital Project in London, UK, a Parkway initiative. Simply known as the London Heart Hospital, Parkway has since relinquished their interest. It is now managed by a NHS trust.

It must be said that in all of these 6 private hospitals locally and internationally, Thermal was responsible to equip them with all consumables, medical and surgical equipment including beds, bedside lockers and stretcher trolleys.

There are four main divisional thrusts in Thermal with one single core activity being healthcare facility administration and management. The four Divisions are the Projects, the Trading, the IT and last but not least, the Logistics Division.

These divisions function cohesively as a single unit and within this framework, Thermal is capable of producing large turn key projects equipping from the lowly cotton wool to the fastest linear accelerator as was done in the Gleneagles Hospital in 1992, which still is the Flagship hospital of Parkway Holdings.

Working with RSP Planners and Architects, ranked 18th world largest, Thermal will provide a complete built and transfer healthcare facility, such as the Siloam and Medan hospitals in Indonesia.

Thermal was instrumental in providing most of the high tech Cardiac equipment in the Jerudong Park Cardiac Centre in the year 2003 in the capital city of Brunei.

Using the most cost effective methodology, Thermal helped Parkway to refurbish fully all their 22 bedded ICUs and 13 Operating theatre suites, in Mount Elizabeth Hospital, two of which were equipped with full Video Conferencing in their twin MIS theatres and one with Voice activation surgery. Thermal also provided the infrastructure Video and Medical Gas facilities for the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical Suite.

Since inception, Thermal’s trading division provides the impetus to its day to day businesses, being appointed as sole distributor for many sophisticated products in the Operating rooms and specialist areas. Thermal currently holds sole distributions for the following companies:-

Brandon Medical UK
CSZ USA
ITC USA
Quinton USA
Mennen Israel
Medi-Tech USA
Medtronics (Indonesia only)
Siechrist USA

And it was in these periods that Thermal was treated as a Global customer with Datascope, Hill-Rom, Siemens and Philips.

Through PICIS, Thermal became involved in Clinical Information System in both Malaysia and Singapore, being the very first company to have successfully implemented paperless charting in the ICU. Today, this product, helps reduces the workload of busy ICU nurses.

During the SARS outbreak, Thermal was instrumental in contracting with BioQuell, a UK based company specializing in bio-decontamination of hospital areas to irradiate potential MRSA and VRSA hotspots both in the fever wards and ICUs of  Gleneagles, Mt Elizabeth and East Shore Hospitals,. Hospitals are the hotbeds for most nasocomial contaminations. In fact it was so successful that BioQuell was engaged again to decontaminate the Animal Research Facility in Biopolis. Because BioQuell uses a vapour form of Hydrogen Peroxide, a strong bleaching agent, enough to kill all forms of micro organism, the treatment system has not affected any working objects in the ICU areas such as the patient monitors and other sophisticated instrumentations.

A footnote of interest was the fast ISDN lines available to Mount Elizabeth Hospital for video conferencing capable of up to 768 kps. It was capable of multiparty conferencing.  At that speed had it been used during the SARS outbreak, would have serve as the MCU for all parties/. During this outbreak, there was limited mobility and forced confinement of all hospital personnel.

Thermal also provides Biomedical Preventive Maintenances services to the Normah Specialist Hospital in Kuching, Sarawak, Jerudong Park Cardiac Centre and Penang Gleneagles. There are other exclusive non-disclosure service agreements for some well known brands in the market.

Thermal’s association with  UK and US manufacturers goes back to the late 70’s carrying brands such as Lamtec Anaethersia units, Nesbit Evans beds and transfer trolleys, Bentley cardiac products and Medtronic’s. Thermal is continuing these early roots in the healthcare industry and will not be capitulating on this nature of business which has contributed immensely to its profit and growth. This division has grown to incorporate the Turn Key business. Manufacturers looking for nominal growth for their businesses may find Thermal uninteresting to work with. Only, their share of the pie comes when Thermal secures the turn key businesses and transforms bulk orders into reality. Customers of Thermal can tap into this vast source of data and experiences both in the Biomedical maintenance sector as well as equipment specialization. We believe this expertise is unparallel in the region.

In total, the Projects Division has completed more than 8 projects some of which are listed below. The Turn Key operations involve the complete logistic chain from manufacturer to end user. In that sense, Thermal operation involves, consultation, discussions, recommendations, procurement and
commissioning.
